• Work alongside the CEO to ensure that the corporate strategy is created, managed, and achieved. Establishes operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.

1. Solver Team Participation
• Participate in Solver Team meetings to align progress and proposed solutions with overall company strategy and goals 
• Communicate solutions to engineering crews with a consistent and aligned message – No silos
• Get feedback from the Solver Team members on difficult issues; make decisions on how to proceed
• Jointly responsible for the overall engagement and growth of engineers
• Travels to other offices to engage with engineers to evaluate project performance, establish areas of growth, and assist with project-specific challenges

2. Design Director Oversight
• Lead the Design Directors and empower them, holding them accountable to train and mentor their crews.
• Provide leadership to ensure everyone speaks the same language, moves in the same direction, and maintains high-quality standards.
• Provide support to Design Directors for communicating with their Crew regarding leading productive workflow
• Meets with Design Directors monthly and as needed to distribute information on new processes
• Collect common themes regarding identified issues and provide clear process to correct issues and achieve desired future results
• Conduct performance reviews for Design Directors and participate in the Crew performance review process

3. Financial Operations
• Engineering Division P&L responsibility, driving both top-line and bottom-line growth
• Lead project financials (Project Realization and Profitability) and train project leads on how to perform projects on-time and on-budget
• Responsible for engineers meeting or exceed all Key Results Areas (KRA) including Project Profitability, Billing Goals, A/R, Realization, and Utilization
• Provide recommendations to strategists for modifying KRAs to drive business results
• Monitor and validate backlog and fee projections on an on-going basis to ensure the company can continue to meet or exceed our strategic goals

4. Employee Productivity and Success
• Determines and teaches LM standards for project success
• Evaluates processes and collaborates closely with Engineers, BIM, and SI to channel feedback into future trainings and improved guidelines and processes
• Monitors and encourages communication plans/expectations for Crews
• Holds professional development and project management teaching sessions company-wide every quarter
• Works with engineers one-on-one to increase efficiency, task prioritization, and client management
• Works closely with the All-In-Director to determine engineer utilization and capacity for the purpose of pursuing new work and evaluating backlog
• In partnership with EVP of Engineering, develop and administer guidelines and processes for performing engineering services (including standardizing calculations, software programs and spreadsheets) across all offices
• Maintain, schedule, and deliver company Standard Operating Procedures for project management to ensure consistency
• Mentors and coaches’ engineers based on the engineer’s needs; is available to engineers according to the engineer’s experience and ability
• Provide guidance and serve as a mentor to current and aspiring Project Managers
• Create, schedule, and deliver training programs on project workflow for employee development. Duties will include identifying skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed; introducing new technologies; maintaining and updating curriculum database with lessons learned and best practices and industry technical changes and advancements
• Lead engineering workload resourcing-prioritizes the workflow and adjusts staffing as required to meet established schedules and staff competency
• Coaches staff on how to manage a project between offices and within project budgets. Coordinates staffing assignments for work shared between offices
• Identify experts to be responsible for staying current with their topic of specialty. Reviews and approves periodic reports from “experts” relating to design and engineering issues
• Performs QA/QC reviews of projects
• Assist EVP of Engineering with leading Engineering Process Training and other training for engineering staff
• Administrative and other duties assigned by the CEO and Strategists

5. Business Development and Client Touchpoints
• Works with All-In Director to translate all-in strengths to project management and client communication

• May perform shop drawing reviews, inclusive of providing mark ups to the SEoR for review and approval.
• May act as a technical advisor to professional staff during construction phase of projects.
• May assist project engineer during construction, with answering RFIs, interpretation of test results, or contractor change orders, etc.
• May perform constructability reviews of Contract documents.

Limits of Authority:
All major decisions concerning the cost, design, schedule and completion of projects is the responsibility of the Design Project Manager, but Structural Inspector is expected to provide input and make suggestions to the Project Manager on these issues. Usually has significant contact with General Contractors, Subcontractors, and sometimes clients, and may attend construction Owner Architect Contractor meetings.
Relationship to Others:

Position Overview:
As a Staff Professional in this office, you will lead a great variety of interesting projects during construction. Working closely with Design staff and Project Managers, you’ll be LM’s Point of Contact during construction for all assigned projects and responsible for a number of tasks, not limited to INTERFACING with clients, owners, and project team members on a daily basis, ENGAGING in all aspects of engineering to bring high quality designs to life during construction, LEADING construction administration activities for submittals, shop drawing reviews, and RFI responses, COLLABORATING with design engineers in the development of practical and economical solutions for field issues during periodic site visits.

Typical Duties:
Each person is expected to help out in whatever duties are required to deliver and execute high quality projects on schedule. The following duties are typical of this position but are not all-encompassing:
• Provides visual site observations and Special Inspections for projects assigned. This position DOES NOT perform any Construction Materials Testing; however, does require extensive knowledge and experience with observation and testing requirements for earthwork, concrete, masonry, steel, and wood construction.
• Takes photographs of relevant conditions in the field to use as documentation for reports.
• Prepares detailed written reports of all observations, any project discrepancies, and documenting collaboration with the Structural Engineer of Record (SEoR) to provide direction for remedial action of discrepancies noted during the field observations.
• May perform shop drawing reviews, inclusive of providing mark ups to the SEoR for review and approval.
• May act as a technical advisor to professional staff during construction phase of projects.
• May assist project engineer during construction, with answering RFIs, interpretation of test results, or contractor change orders, etc.
• May perform constructability reviews of Contract documents.

Limits of Authority:
All major decisions concerning the cost, design, schedule and completion of projects is the responsibility of the Design Project Manager, but Structural Inspector is expected to provide input and make suggestions to the Project Manager on these issues. Usually has significant contact with General Contractors, Subcontractors, and sometimes clients, and may attend construction Owner Architect Contractor meetings.
Relationship to Others:
Works directly for the various project managers and has significant contact with other project team members. May have frequent client contact, if approved by the project manager.

Candidate Requirements

Must have knowledge and experience in Construction Management, Construction Administration, and/or Construction Inspections. More specifically, we are looking for candidates who are:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in the engineering or construction industry.
• Passionate about structural engineering.
• Able to handle multiple competing assignments at once.
• Organized and willing to think outside the box to find the best approach to every challenge.
