Duke University East Campus Dormitory
Durham, NC
Two different structural systems were evaluated and designed. The initial structure was designed as load-bearing masonry with hollow-core floor planks. After budget and construction schedule evaluation, it was determined that structural steel with composite deck would be more cost effective and better suit the project’s tight construction schedule.
