Virginia Beach Fire & EMS Station #7 – Town Center

This new two-story, 24,500 SF fire station and administration building is located in the heart of Virginia Beach. The first floor includes 4 apparatus bays for Fire and EMS services, a large dining and kitchen area, day room with storage, 14 individual sleeping rooms, 6 bath/shower rooms, SCBA room, decontamination room, fitness room and laundry. It also includes offices a fire/watch room and lobby. The second floor serves as Fire Administration Headquarters and includes offices, a conference room, storage, kitchenette and reception area.

The station was designed to accommodate future growth including an additional apparatus bay and more sleeping rooms. Constructed using a combination masonry bearing and structural steel framing, the facility has geothermal heat pump systems and was designed to withstand Category 2 hurricane winds. The project received a Silver LEED Certification and a Design Award in the 2014 Firehouse Magazine Design Awards.
