The Public Safety Simulation Complex rises as the first education and training building on the new Wake Technical Community College Eastern Campus. This 76,000 SF state-of-the-art facility will house a 4D immersive interior training village, multi-function and specialty training rooms, fitness areas and multi-level training areas. The reality-based simulation center allows students to train in an immersive reality of downtown streets, K-12 classroom, hotel, residence, and reconfigurable retail spaces.
The building is a partial two-story structural steel system with high bay spaces for training areas. It’s expected to serve 2,000 students a year and will be the new home of Wake Tech’s EMS program and a new program in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) drones – through a partnership with Elizabeth City State University. A 2-story corrections pod will facilitate training scenarios for public safety and detention personnel.
Wake Tech and the design team are seeking Green Globes certifications and a Central Utility Plant (also designed by LM) will house chillers and boilers for the entire campus.
