Four-story, 100% mass timber construction? Say less. Live Oak Bank’s campus is expanding with 66,500 SF, 200 person office building surrounded by trees and facing an expansive pond. Living up to their ecological name, Live Oak is proud this structure is the first 100% mass timber project in the Cape Fear region. Mass timber is lighter than steel/concrete, renewable, and sustainable due to biophilic design. And the project is aiming for LEED Silver too!

The remarkable architectural design necessitated the meticulous creation of a Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) diaphragm–a unique structural element carefully crafted by hand to enhance the building’s integrity. The unique aspect of designing this CLT diaphragm added an artistic and bespoke touch to the construction. With innovative materials, structure, and design, the team worked closely to overcome challenges before, and during construction.
