The first project on the former Dorothea Dix campus after the City of Raleigh purchased the property, the historic preservation and renovation of the All Faiths Chapel is a iconic project.
This mid-century beauty was built in 1955 and the project team ensured that everything from the terrazzo floors to the rose stained-glass window to the Nave sawtooth walls is ready to welcome generations to come.
Now as a 10,800 SF event hall with office, meeting and catering prep spaces, it serves Raleigh residents in a new and exciting way.
To support new air handling units (AHUs) on the existing roof and demolition of load bearing walls, structural steel columns and dunnage frame were erected. Additionally, a 7′ mechanical screen wall surrounding the AHUs was added to the roof. To support these loads, the existing roof beams were reinforced with either sistered wood beams or steel plates.
The project won a Pinnacle Award for Best Building Project from the Carolinas Associated General Contractors.
