Justin’s father and both grandfathers worked as contractors for more than 35 years, so construction work runs through his blood. He became interested in structural engineering while studying at Virginia Tech, and the field has been a delight for him ever since. He most enjoyed working on the Norfolk State University Library. Because the building is a double curve, having almost no straight lines presented many major and exciting design challenges to overcome.

Justin is passionate about his faith and raising his family. He and his wife, Reverend Mary Sullivan-Trent have six children – all girls! Two of his daughters are U.S. Marines (ooh-rah!) and he spends a lot of time driving the other four to their varied activities. Justin loves grilling, and streaming the latest must-watch shows (when he can get the remote)!
