Fire Station #22, City of Raleigh

This new two-story, 15,768 SF replacement Fire Station #22 for the City of Raleigh sits on a 1.3 acre site. The station houses the Hazard Material Unit and provides services to residents in North Raleigh. It features three drive-through bays, each large enough to store a “Tiller” size apparatus.

Other facility spaces include dorm rooms for two firefighting companies including respective captains and a battalion chief, along with an open-concept day room, well-appointed kitchen and dining space, fitness room, watch desk, and administrative offices. Additional features include decontamination spaces with showers, PPE and cleaning storage, and built-in training such as tie-off rope locations, rappel points, and roof anchors.

The structure consists of a combination of structural steel framing and load-bearing masonry walls. The project is targeting LEED Silver Certification.
