As experts in the standards of practice, as well as in regulations affecting the industry, our team is well prepared to offer unbiased and thoughtful advice. When needed, we can also provide expert witness testimony.

We work closely with historic preservation societies, foundations and other invested parties to understand the structure’s impact on people’s lives for decades, or even centuries.
Our goal is to preserve each building’s story while ensuring its structural soundness. We retain as much of the original building as possible, including ornamental work and other specific structural elements, while supplementing and strengthening it as necessary with modern materials.
view our Historic preservation portfolioOwners know and trust us, which is why we are often selected to conduct peer reviews of recently designed or completed structures. We offer a second opinion to verify that the structural design is conceptually correct and free of major errors or omissions.
We provide Special Inspections (SI) services on nearly all construction projects. In addition to more than 20 structural engineers, we have a team of highly experienced construction technicians certified in various materials and testing.
As the SER, our intimate knowledge of the structure enables us to recognize key elements necessary for its safe performance. Having the SER on site as the Special Inspector helps quickly resolve construction discrepancies, minimizing or eliminating any impact on the project schedule and cost.

During the construction phase, we are here to help every step of the way. If and when issues arise in the field, we closely collaborate with our construction partners to arrive at optimal, cost-effective solutions. As the Structural Engineer of Record (SER), our construction administration (CA) phase services ensure the finished product is one that everyone involved will proudly claim.

Through field surveys, material testing and detailed analyses, we provide a deeper look into the structure itself so that you understand the good, the bad and the ugly. As your partner, we then offer detailed recommendations for the best course of action.
Our representative services include:
- Survey and reports for clients purchasing existing buildings
- Investigation of corrosion or other damage of reinforced concrete, steel-framed and wood-framed structures
- Investigation of possible structural distress observed by occupants
- Survey and investigation of buildings damaged by foundation differential settlement, expansive soils and other types of ground movements
- Survey and investigation of structures with hurricane, fire or flood damage
- Evaluation of seismic and wind loads
From the latest systems and materials, to the most contemporary uses and approaches, our team thrives on collecting research that will help us provide current energy and environmental conservation solutions.
While we have LEED APs on staff, we know sustainable engineering is not limited by the scope of LEED. Solutions we have researched and used include:
- Fly ash substitute for Portland cement
- On-site crushed recycled concrete for aggregate
- Recycled steel
- Wood products from sustainably managed forests
- Locally available materials
