Reporting to the president of Lynch Mykins, the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager will be responsible for all general accounting and payroll functions of the organization. This position will develop and implement accounting practices throughout the firm to ensure financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.
Overall Functions:

• Oversee all general accounting functions, including preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements; assist the independent CPA with annual tax returns, statistical reports, and questionnaires; ensure maintenance and integrity of accounting systems

• Assist the President in the development, preparation and review of the annual budget and monthly financial statements

• Run Financial Statements, Budgets, Cash Flow Statements (in excel format), and all corresponding reports, A/P reports, A/R reports, Work in Process reports, Project reports, Backlog reports. Keep tracking of everything in a profit center related format

• Manage overall payroll function, including compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations

• Work with project managers on billing and ensure correct invoices are sent to clients; send billing reviews to project managers monthly

• Run revenue generation and make sure all projects are entered properly so that Work in Process and Unbilled revenue is updated and correct at all times

• Enter Accounts Payable into the system, making sure payables are paid on time; export A/P file to bank and notify President for authorization

• Manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable, making sure cash receipts are up to date for PMs to run their reports

• Contact clients directly to assist in collections

• Enter all cash receipts in the system and make bank deposits when needed; make transaction reports of project accounts and file

• Reconcile bank statements for all active accounts, making sure all ACH paid vendors are recorded, reconciled, and cleared

• Manage the closing of the books at year end in close coordination with the independent public accountants

• Process annual property tax reports for all three offices, keeping track of all assets on a location basis, paying property taxes

• Answer client questions concerning billings, liability insurance; send W-9’s to clients

• Interact with Human Resources Manager on matters concerning pension and benefits administration. Organize and attend annual and semi-annual meetings with 401K administrator, Benefits administrator, and all other benefit platforms

• Maintain 401(k) reports and make employee contributions bi-weekly

• Keep track of all company vehicles and running year end reports for personal use of auto

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field

• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience preferably in the engineering industry

• Strong computer background required, including Deltek Vision, Microsoft Office, Excel, and BlueBeam

• Must be detail-oriented and a self-starter

• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment

• Able to work both as part of a team as well as independently

• Demonstrate leadership, communication, supervisory, organizational, and interpersonal skills

• Able to work in a rapidly changing schedule and adjust and modify when needed

• Show exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills. Act honestly and with integrity at all times

• Ability to manage time efficiently. Strong work ethic, cash management skills
